Jaz: JavaScript Geospatial Selection Widget

Jaz is a geospatial selection widget library built using JavaScript. It is meant as a lightweight and easy-to-use tool that can be readily plugged into any web page that requires geographic selection. The library heavily utilizes the Dojo JavaScript library, which allows it to be more readily cross-browser compatible, as well as simplifying much of the initialization.

The Jaz library is built upon a JavaScript version of the Mapx library. This library currently supports 13 projections. Jaz can be used with static images of a projection, or can be used with a MapServer back-end which increases the functionality available (such as allowing zooms, etc). The Mapx JavaScript library is packaged with the Jaz library; the documentation below also includes documentation for the Mapx functions.

The JavaScript version of Jaz was writen by Scott Lewis, based on a Java version written as an applet for web pages by Ross Swick. The original Java version is no longer supported.

The JazLibrary package is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License.
